U.S Chairman joins panel discussion during the World Economic Forum
Each January the most powerful of the powerful gather in the quaint Swiss Alps hamlet of Davos – from heads of state and Fortune 100 CEOs, to leaders NGO representatives, and the most brilliant of thought leaders imaginable. They come together at the World Economic Forum with the mission to make the world a better place by fostering public-private cooperation.
We were fortunate enough to be invited by The Klosters Forum to participate in an engaging discussion that tackled the issue of plastic pollution. Through the gracious support of Athena Advisers, our US Chairman, William Pfeiffer, was able to represent our voice as part of a panel that took place on January 25, Past the 11th Hour: Oceans and Rivers SOS.
“It was a powerful discussion to highlight potential solutions and to incite positive and realistic action,” said Pfeiffer. “The importance of bringing together multi-sector stakeholders to innovate and inspire has never been greater. We can all do better. We must do better … and based on our robust conversation, we will.”
Joining Pfeiffer on the panel were moderator Ruby Shang, formerly of The Clinton Foundation; Arthur Castillo, of the Imperial College of London; George Duffield, of the Blue Marine Foundation; and Tom Dillon, of Pew Charitable Trusts.
“It was quite an impressive group that we were humbled to be a part of,” said Julie Andersen, Global Executive Director for Plastic Oceans. “We can’t speak more highly of the effort made by both The Klosters Forum and Athena Advisers to bring us all together in our search for solutions. It is only through this kind of support and passion that we can all hope to reclaim the health of our planet and the security of our own human food chain.”
Simultaneously, Andersen was half a world away, in Santiago, Chile, with our Chief Evangelist, Craig Leeson, on a journey to seek out solutions to plastic pollution that are being implemented through multi-sector cooperation.
The Klosters Forum is a platform that brings together disruptive and inspirational minds to tackle some of the world’s most pressing social and environmental challenges.
