Beatriz Seixas
Portugal Coordinator, PO Europe
Beatriz is originally from Lisbon but spent most of her childhood in Lamego, a small city in Trás-os-Montes, in the north of Portugal. She lives in Lisbon and studied Biochemistry there, at the moment she’s doing a master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. One of her main interests is the sustainability and conservation of our planet’s biodiversity. Beatriz wants to combine her studies in genetics and informatics to improve ways of being sustainable and repairing the damage that has been done to nature. As a child, she used to spend one month every summer with her brother in a house in Costa da Caparica right in front of the beach, and that contact with the sea was created in her respect accompanied by a love for the ocean.
Currently, she spends her time tutoring Biology and Natural Sciences and being the social media manager for a Podcast project. In addition, she has been volunteering for organizations related to people with needs and children. Now, she feels that she wants to give her time to organizations related to nature conservation, and Plastic Oceans was her choice.
