John Kost

Development and Operations Manager

John Kost has been working in the environmental conservation field ever since becoming a tree planting volunteer with The Greening of Detroit in 2013.  He later took an internship with the Greening and turned it into a full time Program Manager position.

He was responsible for over 200 specialized volunteers, assisting in planning and execution of all tree planting events, as well as planning and execution of all fundraising and celebrations for the Citizen Forester program.

He has studied trees as a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan, worked as an Arbor Technician, and in E-commerce. In 2017 he founded The Social Forestry Project the newest tree planting non-profit in the city of Detroit.
