Lucy Polhill
Hi, my name is Lucy. I am originally from Los Angeles, California where I have spent my time outdoors hiking, camping, diving, and surfing. During my environmental sciences Bachelor’s, I volunteered for several shark conservation projects in Fiji and Indonesia that solidified my passion for marine conservation and sustainability. I am currently finishing my Masters in future planet ecosystem science at the University of Amsterdam where I am researching the factors that influence the uptake of microplastics by zooplankton.
I will be conducting research for the Plastic Oceans science team. The goal is to research not only environmental issues but also sustainable solutions and present them in an applicable language that everyone can understand. At its core, science is a method in which an individual can solve problems through observed behavior. Research can provide the evidence that we need to make sustainable changes in public policy and business.
