Bali, Indonesia

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD’S LARGEST ARCHIPELAGIC COUNTRY

ABOUT BALI

Bali is an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. The island is home to religious sites such as cliffside Uluwatu Temple.

It’s a stunning and popular tourist destination, but also one faced with mounting problems related to plastic pollution, inadequate waste management infrastructure and scarcity of freshwater.

LOCAL PARTNER

Mudfish No Plastic, BlueCommunties

MUDFISH NO PLASTIC travels to remote villages and schools in Bali and other islands in Indonesia to deliver workshops, using creative activities to educate local children and their communities about the dangers of single-use plastic and fight plastic pollution. We also provide them with practical solutions such as reusable water bottles, tote bags, water filter dispensers, and trash bins. We believe that the long-term solution to the plastic crisis in Indonesia depends on engaging and empowering the younger generation to become the catalysts for positive change.

Alongside providing workshops and practical solutions in Bali and elsewhere, we also run training for educators to teach children about single-use plastic and pollution, as well as collaborate with recycling organisations to assist local communities with an effective low-cost waste management system.

PROJECTS

We Are Proud To Be Supporting Mudfish No Plastic and Their Eco Education Programs In Bali

CHILDREN’S WORKSHOPS

The educational program of Mudfish No Plastic consists of four 2½-hour workshops that provide a holistic view of the single-use plastic problem and its connection to our health and the environment.

The workshops are offered in Bali and other locations in Indonesia and include instructional lessons, quizzes, arts and crafts activities (coloring, and designing tote bags), video screenings and area cleanups.

EDUCATOR TRAINING PROGRAM

Mudfish No Plastic is working towards having more educators working under their organization in Bali and throughout Indonesia. To achieve that goal they have begun an internal training program to teach young Indonesian adults how to run their workshops. After being trained, the educators are assigned to a two-person team that is qualified to independently run Mudfish No Plastic workshops.

Trainees who qualify are employed as a Mudfish No Plastic educator and assigned to a Workshop Team.
