Take One Action Film Festival – Eating Up Easter Screening
Eating Up Easter to be shown on Sunday, November 24
About the Festival: Established in 2008, Take One Action are an Edinburgh-based, independent charity founded by film lovers, cultural activists and globally concerned citizens who believe that shared cinematic experience can catalyse lasting change. Our annual programme of activities welcomes upwards of 5,000 audience members each year and includes a 12-day festival in Edinburgh & Glasgow, two weekend festivals in Aberdeen & Inverness, a network of local film clubs and a series of individual screenings, talks and training opportunities.
About Eating Up Easter: With mass tourism and rapid development re-shaping their island, the Rapa Nui people, descendants of the statue builders, are seeking to recycle ancient traditions in a bid for environmental sustainability.
Despite its remote setting, the film captures familiar struggles, whether with environmental threats posed by growing infrastructure, waste management and plastic pollution, or with richly diverse cultural traditions being commodified and hollowed out. But at the heart of Eating up Easter lies a rousing tribute to the role of community engagement, arts and creativity in driving positive social change.
