Santiago, Chile – March 5, 2021 – Earth’s Ekko, a short film for kids, aged 5 to 12, and produced by Plastic Oceans International, will make its Chilean national broadcast debut on Friday, March 5, at 10pm, with a follow-up airing on Sunday at the same time.
On March 15, 2019, our team at Plastic Oceans International was proud to present the Easter Island premiere of Eating Up Easter, a new feature-length documentary from director Sergio Mata’u Rapu. It’s a powerful film that examines several social and environmental issues that are front and center on the island, providing lessons for us all, no matter where we call home.
It was honor to have Sergio with us to present the screening, as it is to offer this short Q&A him. You’ll find the official trailer to the film at the end of this interview, but it can also be viewed HERE.
Our Global Chief Evangelist, Craig Leeson, recently sat down for a fireside chat with attendees of the Marketing Society’s Inspirational Evening – and event organized in Hong Kong on June 11.
The 22-minute version of A Plastic Ocean was viewed by the audience, which was followed by Craig on stage answering several key questions about the issue of plastic pollution, including how marketers can help tackle the problem. To view the interview, please watch the five-minute video below.

On April 26, the Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions will sponsor a screening of “A Plastic Ocean,” a documentary film that captures in shocking detail the pollution of the world’s oceans by plastic – that ubiquitous material that seems to dominate modern life and never goes away. Reflecting on that plastic pollution reminded me of the 1967 movie “The Graduate,” which starred a young Dustin Hoffman. To me, the most memorable dialogue in the movie was not in the iconic seduction scene, where Mrs. Robinson and Benjamin (played by Hoffman) engage in some hot-and-heavy banter about . . .you know. . .

Students from all over the world had an opportunity to discuss and seek out solutions to the environmental and humanitarian issues in our world today. 21 schools from across Asia attended the opening ceremony which was celebrated with a dinner and a private screening of the acclaimed documentary, A Plastic Ocean.
We were honored to have been invited to present a panel discussion and screening of A Plastic Ocean, at Harvard University, Monday evening, November 13.
This week at the international Marine Protected Areas conference in la Serena Chile, Impac4, our Chilean representative, Mark Minneboo, presented the 20 minute condensed version Plastic Ocean, and participated in a panel with photographer Chris Jordan.
The Plastic Oceans Foundation is excited to again be supporting the International Coastal Cleanup, which is happening around the globe on Saturday, September 16, 2017.
On July 3, International Plastic Bag Free Day, Plastic Oceans Chile, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Providencia’s Environmental Commission, held the first screening of a A Plastic Ocean in Chile.
The turnout was overwhelming with almost 130 attending: neighbors, NGOs, representatives of various embassies, students, Chilean scientists, and volunteers. They all came to see what is happening in our oceans and learn from it.
Business class: that holy grail of long-distance flying. For most people like myself it’s a section of the plane you walk through whilst navigating to the tiny piece of real estate at the back of the plane that will deliver hours of torture into the foreseeable future.
But not this day, June 2. As I handed my boarding card at the gate, the machine went red, the flight attendant paused and then delivered words that seemed to project with the voice of an angel, a full symphony choir, and the sudden glare of spotlights: “You’ve been upgraded, sir.” Hallelujah.
