A Blue Breakthrough: Closing plenary, IUCN World Conservation Congress
Our Regional Director for Latin America, Mark Minneboo, will join other speakers in the closing plenary “A Blue Breakthrough” where they will discuss about restoring ocean health, outcomes and next steps for Ocean Progress. Healthy oceans are at the heart of livelihoods for many, and are key to a stabilised climate regime. Conservation and restoration of marine ecosystems, as well as limiting harmful human activities, such as over-fishing and pollution, will help build the resilience of coastal communities, as well as coastal ecosystems, such as mangroves and coral reefs. Using the ocean communities of practice and expertise from the thematic sessions, this closing plenary will take stock of the status of conducting CPR for the Ocean and guide us for a Post 2020 ocean.
