March 18, 2022 – Malibu, California – Today Plastic Oceans International announces that this year’s Trees & Seas Festival, which is an annual celebration uniting ocean and forest conservation around the globe, will be held September 16 – 25, 2022.

Organizers have also launched year-round programming, with the first activities now underway via a collaboration with the National Park Service and Malibu Foundation. It’s a project that will see the fire-damaged Santa Monica Mountains reforested with over 5,000 trees, plants and shrubs throughout March.

“Last year laid the foundation for what I believe will become one the most anticipated and valued annual celebrations of our planet,” said Julie Andersen, Founder and CEO of Plastic Oceans International. “Our team and partners intuitively adapted to the challenges of a changing world to deliver a global event that informed and inspired hundreds of thousands of people on five continents. As a result, we have stronger, more empowered communities ready to amplify the impact for this year’s event”

Through a variety of live and remote experiences, Plastic Oceans International has set impressive goals for 2022. Over 5 million square meters of land and sea will be cleaned of plastic pollution and other litter, 150,000 trees will be planted, and over 100,000 kids will be educated.
