We are very pleased to announce that our creative agency, Crowd, has taken home a very prestigious award for their branding and marketing work on behalf of the Foundation.
They have been recognized for excellence in the annual American Graphic Design Awards, which are organized by Graphic Design USA, the leading publication in the US for creative designers. The win comes in the category of Branding + Identity Programs, for their work in updating the Foundation’s brand, as well as branding and marketing for our award-winning documentary A Plastic Ocean.

Students around the world are learning about our social problems and creatively developing solutions. Plastic Oceans Foundation wants to foster this global movement to solve plastic pollution.
From the Pacific Ocean to the Rocky Mountains, Plastic Oceans Foundation (POF) was recognized in the past week for increasing awareness of the dangerous impact of plastic pollution on the world’s bodies of water. At a gala event on California’s Santa Monica Pier and at an issues-oriented film festival in Colorado, we engaged in important conversations needed to change the habits of individuals and to create new policies of corporations and governments.
This week at the international Marine Protected Areas conference in la Serena Chile, Impac4, our Chilean representative, Mark Minneboo, presented the 20 minute condensed version Plastic Ocean, and participated in a panel with photographer Chris Jordan.
The Plastic Oceans Foundation is excited to again be supporting the International Coastal Cleanup, which is happening around the globe on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

August 23, 2017 – Los Angeles, CA – It is with great pleasure that we announce that actor and activist Matthew Modine has joined the Plastic Oceans Foundation as a supporting Patron, lending his name and passion to our fight to reduce the harmful pollution in our oceans that is created by mass single-use plastic consumption.
In addition to being an internationally renowned, actor, filmmaker, author and photographer, Modine is a devoted political activist and environmentalist who advocates for human health and sustainability.
Plastic Oceans Canada is proud to have joined forces with the Canadian Wildlife Federation to raise awareness and activate Canadians to “Rethink Plastic” with their petition to stop single use plastics.
We are the ‘plastic’ generation. With more plastic being produced in the last 10 years than in the previous century. We are producing nearly 300 million tonnes of new plastic every year and half of this is designed for single-use.
